News Release:
Our Values. Our Voice. Our Judge.
Shannon Jarvis Announces Candidacy for District Court Judge for Judicial District Two encompassing Beaufort, Hyde, Martin, Tyrrell, and Washington Counties.
I am announcing my candidacy for District Court Judge, bringing over 16 years of legal experience, a dedication to justice, and a strong commitment to the community I call home. I was born and raised in Beaufort County where I attended Bath Elementary and Northside High school. I was licensed to practice law in 2009. Since 2018, I have served and continue serve as a trusted prosecutor, working under Seth Edwards and now Tom Anglim. I have prior experience in private practice and as an assistant public defender. I am the only board-certified specialist in state criminal law in the entire five county district. This title requires the specialist to be in good standing with the North Carolina bar, substantial involvement in criminal law, a substantial amount of continuing legal educations hours, a peer review process, and passing an additional bar examination.

I am a wife of ten years and a mother to three children. My husband is a school teacher at P.S. Jones Middle School teaching 7th grade English. I have three children named Thomas (17), Upton (8), and Sutherland (4). My children have shaped my life and perspective in so many ways. Children's causes are a passion of mine and I continue to advocate for children in my volunteer work. Since joining the District Attorney's office in 2018, I have consistently volunteered at the Beaufort County Teen Court, a youth diversion and mentorship program. I am on the board for Bright Futures of Beaufort County, an organization that helps with the immediate needs of children. I also am the founding member of the Bath Elementary School Bright Futures Site Council which specifically addresses the needs of children at Bath Elementary.
With a record of public service in and out of the courtroom and a reputation for strong legal knowledge, I am focused on ensuring that every person who comes before the court is treated with fairness, dignity, and with impartiality. I am also committed to making the court system accessible, efficient, and transparent.
Supporters are encouraged to join the Jarvis for Judge campaign to help elect a leader who will strengthen public trust in the judicial system.
