To borrow a big phrase from this salient plan originating at the federal level, under President Trump's watchful eye, whose time has finally arrived, even here in the mispent realm of Beaufort County government(s).

Waste, Fraud and Abuse is rampant in many levels of locale government, which must be discovered, and controlled until eradicated. And, it must be eradicated at all respective levels of governing.

As a 7 term county commissioner, and student of history, as well as knowledgeable of all machinations of the aforementioned all levels government, I explicitly know Waste, Fraud and Abuse when I see it, and I do see it; I see it far too often. Waste, Fraud and Abuse constitutes corruption at its base level; the level where most constituents put politicians in office to "mind the store" that is our Constitutional Republic's government; not steal, or help others steal from it.

DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) was conceived, at the federal level, as an antiseptic cleaning agent to help remove the rot of bad governing; the rotting of which this government, of our self-governed People, imagined currently by the wrong types that has now led this Representative Republic to be 37 trillion dollars in dept, and climbing. Continuing toward a more perfect renwal, the borrowed big phrase of "DOGE" for this county of Beaufort is a proposed path to take a hard look at how we self-govern Beaufort County, thereby streamlining a plan to make this local government far more effective by making Beaufort County's governing process far more efficient.

How does Beaufort get on the DOGE Train?

Simply, create a DOGE for Beaufort County Committee of seven members from the community, with each commissioner picking one member, who will serve at the behest of each representative currently sitting as a county commissioner, with the aforementioned DOGE committee meeting once a month. The DOGE for Beaufort County Committee will pick a chairman, and operate by the same rules of procedure as the county commissioners. The Committee will meet in public; in the Beaufort County Commissioners' chambers, where the meetings will also be filmed.

Furthermore, Committee members will have access to all information requested by individual members, and, or the committee as a whole, with the committee forming a report of better practices for future governing practices, and, thereby, removing any discovered Waste, Fraud and Abuse.

Therefore, the committee's report shall be completed on, or before April 30, 2026, and distributed to each county commissioner for their review, as well as the County Manager's office. Additionally, the committee can interact with public, providing that interaction is relevant to the DOGE for Beaufort County Committee's the business of the Committee.

When and if, the Beaufort County Commissioners select a DOGE for Beaufort County Committee, and charge that committee with these responsibilities, and, or additional responsibilities selected by these county commissioners, Beaufort County's government will be on the correct path to streamline its government through better policy, while limiting Waste, Fraud and Abuse.

The Good Tax Payers of Beaufort County deserve this most important governmental need to be immediately attended to.
